Requirements for any cattle entering Colorado for show only (not to be sold) that will return to state of origin – here are answers to commonly asked questions:

Do I need a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI)?
Yes. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection must be issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days prior to entry into Colorado with all official animal identification numbers listed on the CVI.

Do I need an Entry Permit?
An entry permit is required for all cattle from downgraded states (parts of MN & MI, CA, Curry & Roosevelt counties in NM) or for cattle that are non-OCV vaccinated Entry permits are obtained from the Colorado State Veterinarian’s Office prior to entry into Colorado by calling (303) 239-4161 Monday through Friday 8am-5pm (MST) or (303) 239-4159 after hours and on weekends.

Do I need any animal identification?
Yes, official animal identification is required.

Do I need Brucellosis vaccinations?
Female cattle over 4 months old shall be vaccinated with an RB-51 Offical Calfhood Vaccination (OCV). OCV cattle shall have a legible tattoo and an official OCV ear tag.

Do I need Brucellosis testing?
No, unless the cattle are coming from a downgraded state in which case they shall be tested negative within 30 days prior to entry. The date of the test, the results of the test and the name of the laboratory shall be listed on the CVI.

Do I need Tuberculosis (TB) testing?
No, unless the cattle are coming from a downgraded state in which case they shall be tested negative within 60 days prior to entry. The date of the test, the results of the test and the name of the laboratory shall be listed on the CVI. Also, records of required negative Tuberculosis testing shall be with any owner, manager, agent, or anyone in possession of exhibition cattle at all times with all individual animal identification numbers listed and matching the cattle in possession.
