Decorating Chairpersons return to top

Junior Chair

Design decorations in coordination with Theme. Responsible for show ring, announcers staging & backdrop, two photo backdrops, bark/shavings for show ring; decorations and signs in hotel lobby, meeting rooms, contest areas, hospitality area, food service area, adult/junior socials (as coordinated with appropriate committees). All signs as request by committees. Install decorations and un-install upon completion of show.


Education Chairperson return to top

Junior Chair

Arrange contest locations and assist in coordination of contests and workshops. Assist in selecting contest judges and gifts. Coordinate needs from Decorations, Gifts, and Trade Show committees. Develop and run the Quiz Bowl. Arrange display area for scrapbook, poster, photo contests & NJAA Fund silent auction. Coordinate location with Trade Show committee. Plan & set up area for business seminars. At conclusion of contests/show make sure all contest materials are picked up and clean up areas.


Food Chairperson return to top

Junior Chair

Organize meals and snacks. Secure sponsors, vendors/caterers, preparation and storage area. Coordinate with Cook Off, Hospitality, and Queens Committees. Develop and coordinate work force for preparation and serving meals as needed. Clean-up areas after each event.


Fundraising/Finance Chairpersons return to top

Develop all fund raising activities. Coordinate raffles, promotional sale items, Website promotions, silent auctions, and events with IJAA and IAA membership. Maintain financial status, collection and disbursement of funds.


Gifts Chairpersons return to top

Responsible for acquisition of exhibitor gifts, class winner and division winner awards, thank you gifts for judges and volunteer personnel. Coordinate with Educational and Welcoming committee for gift requests and distribution. Coordinate with NJAA for distribution of awards.


Grounds Chairpersons return to top

Junior Chair

Layout, preparation, and stalling of facilities, including bedding, tie-outs, aisle-roofing paper, and state display areas. Coordinate with fairground security, electrician, and daily clean up. Secure and coordinate vendor for feed and bedding and establish an on-call veterinarian. Work with Welcoming Committee for arrival and loan-out of guests. Follow-up with the Fair Park on clean out of barns and clean up of facilities after show.


Hospitality Chairpersons return to top

Provide and staff area for relaxation. Secure and coordinate snacks and beverages. Coordinate with Food & Meals, Decorations, Trade Show committees, and fair park requirements. Provide children’s area and activities for children under show age. Secure and schedule staffing of hospitality and children’s area.


Opening Ceremony Chairperson return to top

Plan opening ceremony activities for the official welcome of exhibitors, guests, & VIP’s. Secure master of ceremonies and plan speakers. Obtain written introduction from each state. Coordinate details with Decorations, Promotions, Social Committees, and NJAA.

Plan in-state publicity: Radio, TV, Newspapers, magazines, web site locations. Establish and update NJAS 2008 web site. Coordinate show interviews. Work with State Fair Park, and AAA public relations department with ads for the program.


Queens Chairperson return to top

Junior Chair

Develop queen’s reception and activity for state junior association queens, princesses, and guests. Send invitations to state royalty, American Angus Auxiliary officers, and Miss American Angus.


Social Activities Chairpersons return to top

Junior Chair

Plan social activities for meeting other Angus exhibitors & families. Coordinate social activities with other states, Opening Ceremonies, Decorations, and Food & Meals committees.


Trade Show Chairperson return to top

Junior Chair

Secure businesses for Trade Show area. Work with fundraising committee regarding sponsor booths and income. Coordinate site and logistics with Hospitality, Decorations, Grounds, and Educational committees. Work with businesses from set-up to tear down. Coordinate business seminars with education committee.


Welcoming Chairpersons return to top

Junior Chair

Develop welcome packs, as materials are available, i.e. donated sponsor promotional items, Dept. of Tourism materials, etc. Coordinate arrival, including veterinarian requirements, and departure of people, cattle, & trailers. Establish personnel & equipment requirements for ease in arrival and departure. Work with grounds committee on traffic patterns, stalling & parking locations. Coordinate check-in of cattle and exhibitors and distribution of exhibitor gifts & welcome packs. Plan and staff an information booth for the duration of the show to provide local information: directions, food, lodging, gas, medical, repairs, etc. Coordinate load-out plan on Saturday.
